Event Description/Details
| Topic: A Business Case for IT Portfolio Management. Presenter: Dr. Richard Bayney, President & Founder of Project & Portfolio Value Creation Topic Summary: In far too many organizations, IT is treated as a necessary cost center for Projects (and other initiatives) that generally fulfill one or more of the following purposes: (a) IT infrastructure, (b) IT application preservation, (c) service level support, and (d) new development and integration. However, if treated as such, the active management of IT investments bears striking similarities to the management of a portfolio of R&D assets or financial assets in that its primary purpose is the maximization of business value subject to budgetary and human resource constraints. In fact, techniques that facilitate data gathering, Project selection and prioritization, resource allocation, and portfolio optimization are almost indistinguishable between these types of portfolios. This presentation examines the Business Case for IT Portfolio Management and contends that the time has come for IT Portfolio Management to be treated as a formal value creating discipline as opposed to a collection of activities that are necessary to maintain business functionality. 5:30 to 9:00 PM 5:30 to 6:30 sign in and networking 6:30 to 9:00 dinner and presentation $39.00 PMI-CTT members $44.00 non members Cancellation policy: Due to the commitment and cost associated with our hosting venues, failure to cancel your registration 48 hours prior will require full payment be made.
