Event Description/Details

PMI-SOC Two Day Workshop in Strategic Portfolio Management and Expanding Strategic Throughput with Stephen Garfein MBA, PMP

Workshop Description

Today more than ever, successful CEOs and their executive leadership teams must focus on their bottom lines (both near and long term) -- whether they are in publicly traded companies, public agencies, nonprofits, or privately held organizations. This workshop offers practical tools and processes to expand strategic throughput, minimize throughput loss, and close the gap between strategy and the actual results. What is an increase in strategic throughput worth to your organization in terms of new perspectives in improving the bottom line and having more satisfied employees, stockholders, and customers? No matter where you are in the organization hierarchy, there are actions you can take to help your organization expand its strategic throughput, with the likelihood that those actions will be recognized by your leadership and help advance your career.
Over the years, the domain of the Project Management Institute has grown from The PMBOK® Guide, to The Standard for Portfolio Management. This seminar takes seminar participants to the next level: Strategic Portfolio Management by exploring how to: (1) Define the current state of the enterprise and the initiatives, programs, and projects required to achieve the preferred future state. (2) Translate strategy into a closed-loop, strategic portfolio management process that anticipates capacity constraints and risks. (3) Identify senior executive perspectives and what c-level executives want from their portfolio, program, and project managers. 4) Complete an opportunity scorecard to assess the risk, strategy, and financial implications of proposed programs and projects. (5) Understand how to apply The Standard for Portfolio Management in a strategic portfolio environment. (6) Develop an action plan to evaluate your current organization against the strategic throughput best practices based on high performing organizations.
